Fall is the time of year that I long for something simple, yet sweet, and this decadent-looking breakfast treat will make the days leading up to winter less glum. This is a great brunch idea — so simple, so yummy! You will easily impress your friends. Roasted pears turn sweet rather easily, and even if you don’t use this recipe, they’re a great way to spruce up a meal.

Pears are a favored fruit across the world, and there are almost 3000 different types of pears. Around Christmastime, you will often find golden pears alongside red pears around the supermarket. The taste difference is subtle, but when roasted, the flavor is brought out more and the pear caramelizes in a way that makes it taste juicier. You’ll love the flavor that comes out after the roasting! It’s sweet as well as savory.
If you can use organic pears for your recipe, then please, go for it! Leaving the skin on the pear (after a good scrubbing) will add a huge chunk of fiber to your daily diet. Pears are also rich in phytonutrients, copper, and vitamin C, according to The World’s Healthiest Foods.
If you want to go healthier or cleaner with this recipe, don’t add the sugar. Pears have a natural sugar to them, and you can add spices such as vanilla or cinnamon. Want to add even more flavor and fiber to this recipe? Drop a few chunks of granola to top it off with a smidgen of honey.
Roasting pears doesn’t take much time, and if you’ve got the setup, you could just as easily throw a couple pears on the grill next time you’re having a cookout or even tailgating. Getting the nutrients you need, whenever it’s possible, is an important part of healthy living. Start adding more fruits to your diet, and more fiber, and you’ll find your energy levels increase and your appetite for cleaner food will flourish. Make sure to pick up great fruits like pears when they’re in season. We’ll be publishing more recipes like this roasted pears recipe in the future!
